Goats bring lasting change

9-year-old Roshan and his sister 6-year-old Divyanshy, love playing with their four goats after school. Roshan is a sponsored child of World Vision India and studies in the fifth standard. Divyanshy is in the first standard. Their parents, Deshraj, 28, and Babli, 27, are persons with disabilities. Despite it, Deshraj works as a daily wage labourer to support their family.

 Safety First

As part of the livelihood recovery program for persons with disability, World Vision India gave two goats to the family in September 2021. They also received training on goat farming. As of September 2022, they have sold four goats for a profit of Rs.30, 000 and have four goats at present. "The gift of goats has changed our lives by increasing our income. We invested the money on food, education, and providing for the need of the children," Deshraj says.

Support for Farmers

Child Protection

Tulasi: "Now I am more aware of child protection issues and can protect myself. I know about the government mechanisms that support and protect us."
