Kotaveedi is one of the villages under World Vision India’s urban development programme. Dayamanthi and her husband (a daily wage worker) hail from a fishing community in Kotaveedi. Dayamanti learnt how to prepare phenol, detergent, blue and tailoring as a part of the courses organised by World Vision. She has gained entrepreneurship skills through these courses and now uses them to make a living. World Vision provided her a sewing machine as well to help her with future endeavours. Dayamanthi’s earnings help support the education of her three children, one of whom is sponsored by World Vision India. The family now leads a life without financial instability and they have plans to build their own house instead of living under their thatched roof. They have expressed their heartfelt gratitude to World Vision for its timely support and guidance.
